Good OLD Hogle Zoo!

The weather has been beautiful lately and I have been wanting to take Sam to the zoo for a while now.  I had a free ticket and Sam was free so why the heck not right?  We went last week and had a great time.  The weather could not have been better and we both just had a great time.  I'm realizing that my time with only Sam will be coming to an end in a quick 5 months or so I want to do as much with the two of us as I can.
I remember loving this lion drinking fountain when I was a kid.  I think the joy is passing on to Sam as well.

Sam was so excited the whole time.  I brought a stroller but he didn't sit in it once.  He literally ran around the whole zoo.  He just loved it.

We took a ride on the merry-go-round and Sam was having the hardest time decided what animal to ride.  First he wanted the bear and then he saw the elephant and wanted to ride that.  When I got him on the elephant he saw something else he wanted to ride.  Forget it kid,  ride is starting, the elephant it is.  He loved it nonetheless.

He kept asking for the giraffes and wasn't as excited as I thought he would be when we got there.  I think he was bummed when we went in their little house place and nothing was in there, they were all outside.

The Hogle Zoo is really struggling right now.  They have a TON of monkeys.  In fact, I feel that the majority of the zoo is monkeys.  Sam loves monkeys but even he was acting bored by yet another monkey exhibit.  There were no bears, zebras died, they took the penguins out and there were no lions.  Oh, they did have gorillas and monkeys though.  Did I mention that already, ha, ha, ha.  I just crack myself up.  They are in the process of building a big Arctic area so maybe when that's done it will get a little better.

We took a fun ride on the little train but I didn't get any pictures of that.  The train traveled at a surprisingly quick speed and I was too busy holding onto my child to make sure he didn't fall out to get any pictures.  We finished the day at the little park area.  Sam loved all the toys they had to play on.  I think I would have liked it more if I wasn't busy making sure my child didn't get lost in the 2 large bus loads of kids running around.  I'm not exaggerating here folks.  BUS LOADS of kids.  It sure was nice when they left.  (Yes, I do realize I will someday have children that are in those buses but at this point I don't so....)
I pretty much had to bribe Sam out of the Zoo. Thank you fruit snack and sippy cup.
I even made the effort of asking a stranger to take our picture so I could be in one.  I would love to get a pass to the zoo.  The zoo is small enough that it can easily be a morning trip for a few hours.  However, I worry that Sam and I would both tire of monkeys.  We'll see if I can talk the money man into it. :)

A Zoo pass is totally worth the money. We have had a year pass to the zoo since we have lived here in Arizona. We have been over 40 times but never tire of it. We have the zoo memorized!

Loving all the blog posts - I'll bet even if you got tired of the monkeys they would do something different every time, you know, swinging on the vines, then picking at themselves.. you get the idea. I was totally luaghing at the part about holding on to Sam during the train ride, I could totally picture it!
