The Blue Light special!

Sam has had alot of ear infections so we took him to see an ENT and sure enough, he needed tubes.  It sounded like he could barely breathe at night and it worried me.  Anyway, his tonsils were gigantic, nearly touching as were his adenoids.  So the decision was made, he was getting the blue light special as they call it at the surgical center.  We actually found out he needed the surgery 6 months before he got the surgery.  I don't know why, I just felt like we should wait a little bit.  Well, Dan got a great job with amazing insurance so i guess that's why I was supposed to wait?  Who knows, anyway, he had the surgery in the middle of January this year, 2013.  I absolutley HATE the snow and this was our drive up to the surgical center that early morning.
It was a good thing Dan was with us because driving in the snow doesn't bother him in the least.  We dropped Ellie off at the Simmons for Camille to watch her.  I can't even remember what time we had to be up there, 7:30 maybe?  It was early, that's all I really remember.  He was a little bit nervous but I don't think he really knew what to expect.  It also helped that we got to see Papa before and after the surgery.  Gary works at the surgical center we had the surgery done at.  His really good friend was the anasthesiologist on the case so it was nice to know Sam was in great hands.
He looks so puffy in this pictures and I look really tired.  This was before he went back, obviously.  He was in no state to be taking pictures after he came out of surgery.
All of the doctors and nurses were very complimentary of how well he did in the surgery and going into and coming out of anasthetic.  The surgery was pretty quick, maybe an hour.  Oh goodness, my memory struggles.  It took them a while to come get us b/c his oxygen levels were really low after surgery so they were trying to get them up before they let us back there to see him.  Can I just say drugs are a very, very good thing.  He missed school for about a week and it was a rough recovery but as long as we kept up on the the meds, he was fine.
He really wanted me to take a picture of the bandage on his foot.  They put the IV in his foot so when they took it out they wrapped it up.

I am so glad we finally got the surgery done.  Dr. Schueller (whom we LOVE) told us his tonsils and adenoids were gigantic.  He sleeps quietly now and has really become a great sleeper.  He has had one ear infection since but we called Dr. Schueller and he called in some drops and it cleared up pretty quick.  We have been doing a ton of swimming lately and he has been complaining of an ear ache the last two days and his ear is draining like crazy!  So glad we have the tubes in to help drain all the liquid out.  Hoping this ear pain doesn't last long.  Ear aches KILL!!

Sam really is such a good kid.  Of course he is still 4 and acts like it sometimes but he is just a sweet kid that loves to love! I was looking at pictures on this computer and came across these that I never realized he took.  Cracks me right up.  I can't believe how blonde he was.  Pretty sure it was end of summer.
