You know you love my running sleeves. If you don't, you should. I love, love, love these things. You don't have to wear your whole shirt but keeps you warm when it's still a little chilly. Seriously LOVE!
As you can tell, we got some really great pictures of the race. :) That's what happens when your husband is in charge of not losing the two kids and trying not to miss me. I probably wouldn't have gotten any at all if it would have been me so I'm not complaining.
I really wanted to break 1:40 but then the more I thought about it I was thinking I was crazy. I mean that's fast. Lucky for me it was a downhill course which really, really helps you go fast. I felt pretty good the whole race but of course got pretty tired towards the end. I had planned on running with a friend but I lost her at, like, mile 2 and never saw her again. :( My running watch does crazy things when it hits an hour and so I wasn't sure of what my official time was but I was pretty sure as I ran through the finish line that I had broke 1:40. Buy I DID, barely.
Here are the stats for the race. I'm just putting this in here for history sake. So when I'm old and lazy I can look back and see what great shape I was in. I'm serious too. I wish I would have kept track of all my races and the times I've gotten. I've done, like, 12 marathons and only remember a few of the times I've gotten. FAIL! Here's to better record keeping.
Official Time: 138:59
Pace: 7:34. What?!? That is crazy fast for me.
Overall: 208 out of 3200
Women: 53 out of 2067
F 30-34: 19 out of 462
Man there are some fast runners out there. Amazing! I was happy with the fact that I felt like I had given it my all.
I love this race. It is well organized, gorgeous and the downhill course is a winner!! I'm a little bummed b/c tonight I got an email from Zions Bank saying they had 160 openings for Zions Bank members for the race next May and I didn't get around to looking into it until all the spots were already taken. The race usually sells out in minutes so this year I just found out they are doing a lottery so I may or may not be doing this race next year. I missed the sign up last year but then Zions opened up a few spaces and I was lucky enough to get one. Very popular, fun race. I would love to do it again next year but we'll see if I get in with the lottery.
Quick story about Ellie's awesome outfit. You know what a romper is right? If not, shame on you. Anyway, the striped top is totally a romper. Dan put jeans over it. Bless his heart. I mean, who puts jeans over a romper. He had no idea. Men, you've got to love them. Dan is such a great sport packing up the kids and coming to support me. I was so happy to see them at the end.
St. George Marathon in 5 days. FREAKING OUT!!! I haven't run a marathon in about 6 years. Pre marriage and pre babies. This could be interesting. Pray for me, I am begging you. Thanks!!

Even though we've already talked about your running and marathon and half marathon and everything, I still love reading about it. One day (sooner rather than later, hopefully) I would love to run, but the real reason for my comment is this: I can TOTALLY hear you saying what you write. It makes it fun for me because it's like you are sitting right here, telling me in person. You are awesome and I love that you are back in the blogging world. I need to catch up on my blog as well, so don't feel bad when you get behind.
"Bless his heart" is definitely a favorite phrase... jeans over a romper, classic! Awesome time - i hadn't even heard how you had done on this one (I did hear about St. george, so I'm not totally oblivious!) As someone who was watched a lot of races with little kids, Dan was definitely working almost as hard as you :)
