Sam loves marbles. I saw this sweet marble racing game at Costco in August and so did Sam. We had to go walk by it every time we were there and he talked about it all the time. We got it for him but made the novice mistake of not setting it up before he opened it. Bad idea! One day, we'll learn as parents. He was super excited when he got it.
Of course he wanted to play with it right away. The problem here folks, it took FOREVER to put together. We had a lot of fun things planned for the day. We were going to take Sam miniature golfing, maybe go to lunch. We did none of them because Dan spent all day putting the marble game together. Poor Sam was dying he wanted to play it so bad. If we would have just used our brains and put it together before.
Dan hard at work putting the game together.
Needless to say these boys were happy when it was all done. It's pretty sweet. Dan and I actually had a few races when the kids were in bed. That marble racing gets intense I tell you.
After a long day at home building that monster we were headed up to the Simmons for a swim party/bbq. Mom S and Sam have the same birthday so it was a big celebration.
Sam loves to swim. He is a fish and will run and jump and just goes crazy in the pool. He was very excited to go swimming with his cousins. They were having so much fun jumping in together.
Then we went to the Simmons for cake and dinner. I love bbq's and I'm really going to miss it when the weather turns.
-He calls sausage ostrich.
-Loves to ride his bike with all of his buddies in the neighborhood. (We are so lucky. We have a ton of kids Sam's age within 3 houses of us north and east). They have so much fun playing together.
-He will continually do things and then ask Dan and I if he's funny or if what he did was funny.
-Still obsessed with Ellie. He loves her. But it is pretty amazing how well he tunes her screaming out. The other day I left her sitting on the kitchen floor while I ran out back to turn the sprinklers off. I heard her screaming and I thought oh he's probably doing something to make her laugh. I came back in and he was just sitting at the kitchen table with his hands over his ears.
-Started joy school with a few kids in the ward and is doing really well.
-Still drinks his sippy alot. WE need to start weaning him of this but I am really dreading it. It's a comfort for him for sure.
-Is a much better sleeper now, THANK HEAVEN! He still gets up early but at least now he's old enough that I put a show on and I can go work out and he let's Dan sleep a little bit more.
-Loves baths and sometimes wants to take two a day because it's kind of like swimming in the pool.
-Still tells Dan and I that we are his best friends ever. He says it mostly when he's really excited b/c we are going to do something fun or we give him something he's been asking for.
-He has a killer sweet tooth. I can't imagine where he got that from. Popsicles and ice cream are the current obsessions.
-Loves to golf and gets really sad when he can't go golfing with Dan.
He's a fun kid. We sure do love him! I love that he's getting older, it is so much fun. Can't wait to see what the future holds with this one. I haven't taken him for his Well Check yet so I'll have to add his stats when I get them.

He's such a cute little man, even if you "claim" that he's a stinker sometimes. I don't believe it. Your kids are absolutely adorable every time I see you. ;) Happy Birthday, Sam!
Yay, Sam, being able to block out a screaming baby is definitely a skill, glad he's learned it early along with his other fun skills!
I love these updates, since we aren't closer it gives me a good idea what sam is doing - such a great kid - I'm sure he will be holding his hands over his ears for years to come with his little sister :)
