We didn't tell Sam until the morning of because we didn't want to get him too excited. He flipped out when we told him, he was so excited.
The giraffes are usually my favorite animal at the zoo but the baby elephant was a very, very close second this trip. So cute!
Sam was tired when we left at 10:30. He has been so tired lately but still refuses to take a nap. He will fall asleep in the car though. So I have strategically been planning errands around nap time so he will fall asleep on the way home. It has been working out nicely. Anyway, he was tired so he was a little whiney and wanted to be held the entire time. Ellie was a little fussy but I think it was because she had her shots the day before.
This picture is totally out of focus but it was dark in this ape building and the flash reflected off the glass. So I had to take it without a flash and my ISO wouldn't go high enough. Blah, blah, blah anyway this ape was so close to the glass just checking everybody out. Sam was in heaven.
Dan and Sam took a little train ride. Look how cute they are, seriously! It was so much fun spending time as a family. Really, SO MUCH FUN!! We have definitely been in survival mode for the past 4 months during busy season and it feels so good to be starting a new adventure. The weather was beautiful and we just had a fantastic time as a family. To top it all off Dan got me a zoo pass for mother's day. We will be spending a lot of time here I'm sure. Sam has already asked to go back about a million times. I got the pass that allows you to bring a free guest every time you go. So I plan on some of you friends to be coming along with your kiddos. I think 2 and under is free so it would be a free outing. Call me, we'll plan it. :-)
I'm sure that Dan will still work a lot with this new job. But hopefully all of the hours will be spread out through out the year and not just crammed into 4 months. Here's to hoping 'eh?
I'll just finish with a simple question. Do you ever look at pictures of yourself and ask "wow, if I just took a few more minutes to get ready would I actually look half way decent?" Yeah, I got home from the gym, changed and we left for the zoo about 20 minutes after I got home. No shower, little makeup, I know you are totally grossed out. Dan had a tee time in the afternoon so we were a little pressed for time. Sad to admit the shower is pretty much always the thing that get's neglected if I'm short on time. Don't judge.
I'm positive my posterity will look back and ask "did grandma have hair?" " Why does she always has those weird things on her head?" Yes, I pretty much always have my hair back with a headband on. I totally know why mom's chop their hair off when they have kids. It's just in the way. Seriously, when i do my hair down I pretty much instantly want it back out of my face again. Especially if it's a cleaning up the house day. Anyway, maybe I'll start making just a little bit more of an effort. Sigh.
