As you have read from many blog posts Sam isn't the best sleeper. He goes through phases and is currently doing very well. Last night Dan put him to bed and I could hear him banging around and playing in his room. I really don't care what he does in there before he goes to bed as long as he doesn't come out. (As long as it doesn't go on too long, which it hasn't yet). Anyway, after a while I decided to go check on him. I opened the door and couldn't really get it open. He fell asleep right in front of the door. I know this isn't that big of a deal but our child NEVER, I repeat, NEVER falls asleep just in random places. He just never has.
And then today I was transcribing and I heard him and Dan playing in the other room. It got quite and I didn't hear Sam for a while. I came out and Sam was asleep on the couch. He was laying down with Dan watching golf when he fell asleep so he did have a little tickling help but seriously, he just doesn't fall asleep like this. We were both in shock. He is still on Amoxicillin, does that make a child more tired? Oh, he did wake up at 5:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so he was super tired, maybe that was it. He hasn't napped in weeks and it was seriously HEAVEN! I can't believe how fast I had forgotten what that nice quite time can do for a mom. His 'quite' time hasn't been so quite lately and my sanity has been running low. Did I tie his door shut with a rope last week b/c I had to have a break? I sure did, don't judge.
Did I mention busy season has started so we don't see Dan much anymore? BOOOO!! Sam didn't see Dan for more than like 20 minutes in the morning from Mon.-Thurs. last week. I hate it, Dan hates it, Sam hates it. It's a lose, lose, lose! We will survive the next few months. Oh yeah, adding a baby to the single parenting of the next few months should be awesome! Heaven help me.

First of all, that is adorable. My kids are like me, they can and do sleep ANYWHERE if they are tired enough. :) Second, I totally feel for both of you with the ruptured ear drum. I've had it happen four times and let me tell you, I would seriously rather give birth naturally than have a ruptured ear drum. No lie. It has got to be the most miserable feeling. Hope he's feeling lots better.
P.S. You're too cute as a pregnant lady. I hate you a little.... only out of jealousy. :)
Josh does the same thing, he falls to sleep by his door quite often and it almost makes it impossible to get in. I can't believe Sam hadnt taken a nap for weeks. I go crazy after 4 days. it makes me feel better that I am not the only one that can't get my 2 year old to take a nap. And don't feel guilty about the rope, I have a lock on the outside of his door and it sometimes is all you can do to find some peace and quiet!
I man, I feel your pain with the ear business. We have done it all - drops, every possible antibiotic, tubes etc... Although never a ruptured ear drum! Ouch! But I can relate to the annoyance of drops and medicine. Such a pain. Kenzi is just used to it now, but it helps that she is 4 and not 2! Hang in there! No judging will take place about tying a rope to the door handle - I do believe I told you I did the same thing!
sweet - I've never had an "anywhere" sleeper, so I can relate to your shock, the few times the kids have fallen asleep at an unexpected time or place are such a sweet surprise :) geez, who planned this new baby at busy season anyway? just kidding, my friend whose husband is an accountant just put her house up for sale and she was saying today, "what the heck was ai thinking moving at busy season when i'm alone?" good thing you've got a lot of family around to help - don't by shy!
