4th of July Weekend!

Man was this past weekend crazy!  I feel like our home, Sam, Dan and I are all just barely recovering from the long weekend.  It was awesome though.  Saturday morning Dan wanted to go on a hike and take Sam. I don't love hiking so I decided to stay back and get in a nice long run, without Sam.  I have to admit, it was AWESOME!! Sam and Dan both looked so cute before the hike I just had to take a picture.
They had a great time on the hike and I met them up at my parents to go to the Kaysville Parade.  It's a great tradition that my friends and I meet at every year.

It's always so great to see the ladies.  The weather was a little toasty but not as bad as it had been so that was nice.  Sam was a little nervous/scared at the beginning of the parade but he warmed up pretty quick. He was dancing, clapping, having a grand old time.  I got some great video of him dancing at the parade.  Such a riot and a show off.
Sam would run up to Dan and I who were standing closer to the parade and hang out with us for a while and then run back to Mom N who was hanging back with a friend by the curb.

We got a lot of great loot for Sam as well.  My mom caught a cute little stuffed animal, I got a ball, some sweet Mardi Gras beads a frisbee and lot's of candy.  Did I ever mention how much I love candy?  Okay, I know I have.  Especially Salt Water Taffy, yummy!! Sam probably had about 2 of the 15 pieces that we got.  I think there might be 2 or 3 pieces left, don't judge please.  The parade was long and I think all of us were ready to go home for a nap.  We stopped at my parents for a bit after the parade and got Sam some food and man was he ready for a nap.  Sam took an awesome 3 1/2 hour nap.  Unheard of for this boy but it was great.  Dan and I got naps in as well.  After the relaxing afternoon we headed up to Uncle Dana and Aunt Sissy's house for a bbq and Eaglewood fireworks.
Sam loves dogs and they had two at their house.  He followed those dogs everywhere.  The dogs were both super nice, I didn't even mind having them around.  That's saying a lot folks.
If the dogs went in the garden, he followed them in the garden.  He would not leave the dogs alone.

He got in a huge mud pile so that is why he has no pants on.

Giving the dog a hug.  He was in heaven.  The food was amazing.  I love, love, love bbq food. Burgers, salad, chips and some oh so amazing Monster cookies.  Mom S and Shell really outdid themselves with the cookies.  Seriously, I could have eaten a dozen. After we stuffed ourselves we headed up to Eaglewood for the fireworks.

Waiting for the fireworks to start!

One of Sam's new words is 'scary'.  He said that over and over when the fireworks started but he warmed up to them after a while.  Well, when the finale started he was laying by Papa Simmons and he quickly got up and ran to Mimi for some protection.  He was a great sport all night.
I'm such a cheese ball I know.  But hey, I'm in some of these pictures.  I hope you are all proud of me.  We were all pooped by the time we got home.  I was hoping Sam would sleep in on Sunday but he was up around 6:45.  He use to get up much earlier so I am not complaining.  But when he went to bed at around 11:15 I thought we were all going to get to sleep in.  Not how kids work, I know.  I love the 4th and I can't believe it has come and gone.  Where is the summer going?  I am love, love, loving warm weather. Hope everybody had a great holiday!
