Garden Hater

I was really worried about the deer ruining our garden, but apparently I really need to be worried about my son ruining our garden.  Sam was outside playing in the back yard and I was cleaning the kitchen floor so I just left him alone back there. He is been wanting to be held ALL THE TIME lately so this was a welcome break. Anyway, I finished cleaning the floor and went into the back yard and Sam has ripped all of the leaves off of our big beef steak tomato plant as well as twisting and turning the tomato gate into a very retarded shape. Of all the tomato plants he chooses the one that I only planted one of? Come on man! He also ripped a branch off of one of our raspberry bushes and he walks in the garden stepping all over the plants all the time. It drives me insane! Apparently my screaming at him to get out of the garden isn't sinking it. Grrr, hopefully he will learn soon. Here is an example of him not caring where he walks. He clearly felt the garden needed a mow. (Really overexposed pic. sorry)

He loves to "help" Dan mow the lawn. I have to admit, this is adorable.

Just a quick story about tree sap. Have you ever had it all over you? Sam loves to play over at the apartments by our house by this big pine tree. I usually don't let him but this particular day I was feeling extra nice so I let him play over there. Well, nap time came around and we were going in the house and I told him to put the grass he was holding in his hand down. He tried but it was stuck on like glue b/c he has tree sap all over him which was now all over me b/c I picked him up to carry him in the house. Let me just say this, TREE SAP IS A STICKY MESS! It was everywhere and everywhere we went it was getting on. So I put him in his high chair so he couldn't touch anything else around the house and went in to google how to get it off. I had sap all over my hands so I was touching each key with care and it took forever to type. Anyway, come to find out Pam cooking spray takes it right off. It worked like a charm. However, it was still a huge pain and would not recommend letting your children play by pine trees. That sap is the stickiest, nastiest stuff to get off. It was such a nightmare. I of course have no pictures to show for it but I asked Sam to make a funny face the other day and this is what I got.

Not exactly what I had in mind but this kid is a crack up.

I hate using the flash but I was too lazy to change my lens. Love that cheesy grin.

Great pics, Em! I'm sure he doesn't hate the garden, he just wants to challenge it to really fight through struggles and prove how strong it can be, it will prevail!!
