Sleepless, curious, adorable, short child of ours!

Yes, Sam is adorable I agree. :-) It is SO hard to get a good picture of this kid now a days. He just doesn't hold still for longer then two seconds. I really want to have some professional pictures taken of him but that isn't really in the budget right now so maybe in a while. He is so curious and mischievous about everything. He knows when he is doing something that is naughty or questionable b/c he will just look at you while he is doing it to see if you are going to stop him. He can figure out how to get into pretty much everything. Example is below.

He had a great time in this paper. I, myself had a terrible time cleaning it up. Of course you will notice I took the time to get the camera instead of stopping him before it got worse. It was worth it though.
Sam continues to be a terrible and I mean TERRIBLE sleeper. So we let him cry it out a couple of weeks back and he cried for an hour and a half. Dan and I put ipod speakers in our ears with his white noise to try and sleep throughout the crying. Do you realize how hard it is to listen to your child cry for an hour and a half? If you don't, let me tell you, it is not fun. However, he is 15 months old and is screaming 'mama' so I figured it had gone on long enough. The next morning he woke up fine as if nothing had happened. I love that about kids. If you were to leave me screaming in a room for an hour and a half I wouldn't be happy about it the next morning. I digress. He didn't wake up once during the night or early morning the rest of the week. I thought we were golden. Unfortunately whenever he goes to bed late he seems to revert back to his old ways. So he did last weekend and I popped out of bed and ran into his room (half asleep) and then once I was in it was all over. I just couldn't pull myself to put him back in his crib screaming bloody murder. Anyway, he continues to wake up and cry at totally random times. I think he actually has nightmares quite a bit b/c he will wake up with a different cry when he is scared. In fact, it is a scream and both Dan and I will look at each other and say "he must have had a nightmare." Poor kid just sounds absolutely terrified. Anywho, in the past we used to be able to give him a sippy cup and he would go right back to bed. Lately he freaks out when we try to put him in his crib. He wants to be held. Grrr! Yes, I do realize that most of these problems are probably b/c we don't let him cry enough but I can guarantee we have let him cry ALOT in the 15 months he has been alive. He is a terrible sleeper and I am still trying to accept that.
Moving onto his 15 month well check. It went pretty well. He is a smart, hilarious little kid and the doctor and his nurse just adore him. He freaked out while the doctor was doing the exam but about 30 seconds after the exam was over he was hiding behind the table playing peek-a-boo with the guy and then he went right to him and sat on his lap. He told me that Sam was weird b/c of the way he acted. He was kidding and just commented on the fact that he showed very little stranger anxiety. As long as someone he knows is around that is very true. He is so social. His stats are below:
Height - 30 inches - whopping 15%. Yep, he is a shorty! However, he was screaming and twisting when this was being done so I believe it could be off. It probably isn't but it makes me feel a little better.
Weight - 24 lbs. 4 oz. - 45%
Head - 45 cm - 5%

Everybody thinks he is a huge kid for his age but he really isn't all that big. The doctor didn't seemed worried about his height or his head circumference so I'm not going to worry about it either. He did get 3 shots this go around and he did pretty good. He continues to eat terrible. I offer him a variety of food throughout the day and he just shakes his head no, very frustrating. He will eat yogurt, bread, cheese, turkey, fruits and other random things here and there. But even those are all hit or miss. He seems to be growing fine so I'm just going to keep trying.

Oh Em, I so FEEL your pain! Drake has been a horrible sleeper lately too. I want to believe its because he is cutting 3 molars all at once. This too shall pass...I hope! The past 2 nights he's been great so here's to hopin' that's a trend! He is a terrible eater too. Try 4% for weight and 8% for height! Midgie! His head is 80% though. GO figure! We need to get together soon. Sam man is a doll. Maybe he's just adjusting to his new digs!

AAGHGH, that is the worst - you need to put a movie or a really interesting tv show on (that's what I do to try to drown it out), seriously how are you supposed to sleep when they are sounding so sad? and then it is always the next couple of nights that their cry sounds "different" so you are so compelled to go in and check it out - stay strong!
