Sam has actually been a real champ as I have been putting stuff away. He has just been wandering around exploring the new place. He of course loves the stairs so our baby gate has been coming in real handy. We never had a kitchen table at our apartment. Well we did but we got it from a friend and I absolutely hated it so I begged Danny to let me take it to the DI a long time ago. Anyway that doesn't really matter. What does matter is this sweet table that I got off of KSL.
It is going to need to tender loving care but I got this table and the 4 chairs for $25. Yep, that's right $25 bucks. I am still super excited about the great deal. The table and chairs are in good condition they just need some paint. I challenge you to find a better deal.
Here are a couple pictures of the finished kitchen. Well there are still things that need to be done but the major construction of the kitchen is complete and we LOVE it!! The cabinets are so tall and deep that I can fit all of my kitchen stuff in them. We have a ton of kitchen gadgets that we kept from our wedding that Danny won't let me give away b/c he is convinced we will use them. "I love panini's" is what he said when I asked him if we could give it away b/c we never use it. I guess I should just start using them more.
Danny took all the plastic off of the carpet the other day and it is so nice. I didn't realize how much that plastic was hiding under there. I also really wanted to get Sam's room together and I pretty much have. I need to hang stuff up but I really don't have a ton of stuff yet and I don't want to spend the money so it will probably be bare for a while.
Yes it does look pretty blah but to me it looks wonderful. Because we weren't able to unpack when we originally moved all of our stuff into our house the place was a mess. We just moved boxes and threw them wherever there was space. So when it came to me getting organized I had to look at all the boxes to find "Sams room" boxes and then move out all the boxes that weren't suppose to be in his room out. It was a disaster so I lOVE the fact that it looks bare and clean.
Oh, I forgot to mention how much we love our new appliances. They look great and it is wonderful having a bigger fridge. Our apartment fridge was so small so I feel like we are in heaven with a bigger fridge. We were talking the other day with Danny's parents and we were commenting on the fact that you had to come from a small apartment with not the nicest stuff to really appreciate all of the new stuff we have gotten. The appliances aren't anything amazing but to me they are and from what we had before we feel very blessed.
That really goes for the whole house. It really isn't anything amazing to a random Joe but I love it and I feel like I have a ton of room but that probably goes back to the coming from a 900 sq. foot apartment. I feel like I'm living in a mansion. Okay not really but our house may not be much to some people but to us we just feel so lucky and blessed that we found a house in a WONDERFUL area (seriously bountiful is the mecca, everything is within 5 min. away) and in our same ward which we love. Yes, it was and is a ton of work and yes it is an old house so it isn't the nicest around but I love it and am so glad we are here and getting more settled.

Your house looks beautiful. You have done a great job.
so glad we got to come check it out - I'm seriously so jealous of the sweet basement and the new cabinets! As someone who has sacrificed for location, I totally know what you mean - I'm glad you are in a place you love and now have a house you love :)
It looks gorgeous! You guys deserve this.
YAY! looks amazing! I wanted to mention that I have my vinyl cutter if you want something for Sams room!
Your kitchen looks awesome! It doesn't even look like the same kitchen. I am sure it is that way throughout the whole house. It takes time to build up your home decor. I am sure everything will come together with time.
