Half way done with Sheetrock!

So I mentioned that we found somebody to do our sheetrock for super cheap (relatively speaking :-)) He appears to be doing a great job but he is making me nervous. When he first gave me the bid he told me he could have it done by Friday (tomorrow). Earlier this week he said Saturday and then the other day he said Monday. What???? No way mister Richard. I told him he had to have the sheetrock upstairs done by Saturday, no later. Does he realize we have to install pretty much a whole house full of stuff and be moved in in 2 weeks? He is a super, super nice friendly guy but he really needs to get the work done. After talking to him today I think he will be completely done with everything by Saturday so that makes me very happy. It would be nice if we could paint Saturday but oh well. So here we are almost done with the sheetrock. When he is done on Saturday we are ready to paint. And paint we will.

Monday is going to be a big painting day. We have to have the dining room, kitchen and bathrooms done by Wednesday so that Danny and his helpers can get the tile in. Luckily, none of these rooms are very big so I am pretty confident we can get that done. They are re-finishing the wood floor starting a week from Monday and then the new cabinets, carpet, countertop, blinds, etc. will go in after that. For some reason Paul Craig (whom we are getting all of our stuff from) told me that it takes 3 days to get the granite countertops in. I have no idea why it takes so long. So we will probably move everything in and then stay at one of our parents houses for a couple days until the countertops are in and the plumber and electrician come back to hook everything up. I can't believe it is so close I am soooo excited!!!

You may be wondering if we are going to paint or take out that beautiful fireplace. No way, we won't be doing anything with it. You may be interested to know that the dark spots in the fireplace are real dinosaur bone. I actually think I may have already made a comment about this in a blog post but I'm too lazy to go check. Pretty cool though.

love the updates - the granite takes a couple of days, because you have to have everything else done, then they come and make a template and go back to the warehouse and cut the granite to fit then bring it out (ok, that still doesn't explain why it takes them 2 days to do that, but i've had a couple of friends do new counters and run into the same thing)

Hooray! You guys are so close! I can't believe all the hard work that has gone into this house! Good for you guys! As for the collages you asked me about, I downloaded Picasa for free off of the internet and there are all sorts of editing options! You should give it a whirl!
