Samuel Daniel is 1 years old!!!

I cannot believe that Sam's first birthday has come and gone. Time is just flying by. We didn't do a whole lot for his birthday. I'm not big into planning a big party for a child that has no idea what is going on so I didn't. Call me a party pooper if you will. I just decided to save the time and money b/c really, a big party for a 1 year old is more for the adults then the child. Anyway, I digress. Danny went golfing in the morning and Sam and I did our usual routine. I went and got some balloons for him b/c he loves balloons. We gave him the small gifts that we got him and he LOVED them. Sam loves stuffed animals so I got him a couple little dogs that he really loves. He will look at them in the face and then pull them in and give them a hug. Seriously, so cute. I have to get it on camera before this phase is over. We have had one of the dogs with us constantly since he got it. I got him a CD with fun children's songs on it b/c I felt bad that he never hears music. I just don't ever have the radio on in the house and my car doesn't have one. He loves the songs and dances whenever I turn them on. He got some great clothes and books from both grandparents. Thank you!!!
My parents were out of town but they called to sing him happy birthday and he just held the phone and stared at it with his tongue out. The kid loves his tongue and has it hanging out quite a bit. We went to Dad and Mom S's house that night for a little bbq/birthday party. Mom S and Sam share the same birthday. Did you know that Albertsons does free "smash" cakes? Well, they do.

I ordered one and it was surprisingly cuter then I thought it was going to be. I'm glad it was free though b/c Sam didn't get into half as much as I thought he would. I think there were too many people around watching him. Or maybe he just doesn't like making a mess of things that he is allowed to get into. We should have acted like he couldn't get into the cake. Anywho, he still managed to make a pretty big mess of himself.

Cute little Mia just could not help herself from eating the frosting. She kept sneaking little fingers full of frosting. I tasted it and it was pretty good so I can hardly blame her. We thought it was cute.
Here is Mimi sharing her birthday cake with Sam while he continues to dig into this own.

It was a good birthday for the little tyke. I have been singing happy birthday to him for a month now b/c he likes the song and laughs every time I sing it but he still got a little shy when we all started singing. We love this kid!!

Happy Birthday Sam! Isn't it funny how they don't make a mess when you want them too. At leaste he didn't give himself a sugar high and stay up all night like Josh did. He is too adorable!
