1 Year well check

Sam had his 1 year well check last week and it went really well. He did get 4 shots which was really sad. I almost started crying myself. She had me hold him on my lap and she gave him 2 shots in each leg. So sad. After crying for about a minute he was fine. The nurse even gave him a dum dum sucker that he absolutely LOVED. No surprise really. His current stats are below:

Height: 29 inches - 25%
Weight: 21 lbs. 10 oz - 35%
Head: 44.5 cm - 10%

Our kid is still kind of a block. He's such a shorty, I'm sure he will grow eventually. I am still in shock that his head is so small. It doesn't look super small. Anyway, he appears to be healthy and the doctor was just loving him. He was so captivated by him. He even went as far to say that he had the personality of a used car salesman. He is a charmer for sure. He kept walking over to the doctor and grabbing his finger and pulling him towards me b/c he wanted him to walk him to me. He was crawling/walking all over the room trying to open, crawl on anything he possibly could. It makes you feel good when your pediatrician is gushing over your child b/c you know they see a ton of kids each day. He told me that Sam was the kind of kid that makes him love his job. He stayed in the room super long just talking to me b/c he said he wasn't looking forward to going to see the whiney kids. Guess he must have to deal with a lot of snot nosed kids. :-) Sam is a pretty dang cute/hilarious kid so I can hardly blame him. Alright, I'll stop with that now.

Things we love about Sam and what he is up to these days:
-Walking ( he is still unsteady but he is walking a bunch now)
- Says da da for everything
-LOVES motorcycles, big trucks and dogs (every time he sees them he points and screams da da, da, da, over and over and over again)
-Loves stuffed animals
-Thinks it is hilarious when Dan and I hug in front of him and especially when one of us is holding him and we do a three way hug. He just laughs and laughs
-Really enjoying reading. His attention span is still super short but he is doing better and sitting on my lap and flipping through the pages. When he gets sick of a book he will just stand up and grab another one and hold it up for us to read it to him. Sometimes he will go into the room with the bookshelf and grab a book and just grunt until one of us goes in to read the book to him.
-Climbing on everything
-Starting to talk more. He has been saying "oh" when he drops something or falls down. Very cute
-Still plays the throwing game with me every time he wakes up. I talked about it in a previous post. We will throw his stuffed animals in and out of the crib for a good 15-20 minutes every time he wakes up in the morning or from a nap. I can't believe he doesn't get sick of it.
-He has a great arm and can throw things pretty far.
-Grunts when he throws things
-Only nurses twice a day. At night and in the morning. I actually think that I could take another feeding away but I myself am having a REALLY hard time with it. Which is funny b/c throughout the whole last year there were many times I wanted to be done nursing. Now, I am having a hard time letting it go. I will get rid of both feedings soon. I just have to let myself let it go.
-Loves his tongue. He has his tongue out a lot. I actually don't really even notice it but people in the store and family members notice and will comment on it all the time.
- I taught him how to "fake" laugh. Picture throwing your head back and saying "ha, ha, ha". He does it all the time now and it is hilarious. I must get it on camera.
-Obsessed with the stairs. He can go up great of course but he will only go down like one stair backwards and then he wants to turn around and go down front wards. It makes it hard when we don't have any stairs to practice on.
-His diet consists of wheat bread, (loves, loves, loves wheat bread with spray butter) yogurt, and pretty much all fruits but bananas, oh and milk with nesquick. I know, I know but I only put a little bit of it in. We are working on the veggies and other foods and he is doing better.
-Loves looking at pictures of himself
-Loves it when Danny takes pictures of him on his cell phone and then shows it to him. Seriously, he will start laughing even before a picture is taken. he thinks it is just hilarious.
-Still has 6 teeth and none on the way that I know of.
-Has walking wounds all over his poor little head.
-He likes to scream at people in the store to get there attention if they aren't paying attention to him. We were shopping the other day and he kept pointing at this lady screaming "da, da, da, da" b/c she wouldn't acknowledge him. I just had to walk away b/c he can scream pretty loud these days.
-Already throws tantrums in the store if I won't give him what he wants. This one really shocked me, I thought that kind of stuff wouldn't start until much later. I went down the toy aisle on his birthday just looking and he wanted me to hand him everything. When I wouldn't he just started freaking out. Not a good sign.
-I've mentioned this before but he is such a lover.
-Has an obsession with garbage cans, toilets and toilet paper. It's like he can't help himself if he can reach a garbage can. He HAS to pull everything out of it.
-Loves being outside but what kid doesn't?
-He gives great wide open mouth kisses. If your lucky sometimes he will even stick his tongue out. :-)

Okay, I thought this was a good video clip that shows a few of his things right now. The beginning shows how excited he gets when Dan just gets his phone out. It shows how much he has his tongue out and it also shows how much he loves stuffed animals and what a lover he is. Enjoy!
