Like father like son!

So it appears we have another food snob on our hands. Sam must have gotten Dan's picky palate. Let me explain. I have tried almost every kind of baby food and he hates them. As I mentioned in a previous post, he gags sometimes enough to make himself throw up. He did eat a tiny bit of applesauce the other day but other then that he doesn't like it. I had to trick him to make him try it. I was eating a bowl of cereal and he was reaching and whining b/c he wanted some of it. So I would take a bite an then act like I was getting more cereal but would really get applesauce and I think he thought he was getting some of my food because he actually tried it. Anyway, I think it is a texture thing though because whenever I am eating anything he wants some of it. I share with him if I am eating an apple or a pear. So the other day we were sharing a pear and he was LOVING IT. I usually don't let him hold the pear though b/c they are so soft he can really bite a lot off so I usually hold it and make sure he doesn't get too much in his mouth. I did this for picture sake.
Anywho, so he was loving the pear but he was making me nervous and I didn't want him to choke so I cut off what was left of the pear and mashed it up and tried to feed him with a spoon and he refused to eat it. I mean refused. Closed his mouth shook his head back and forth and whined. Same goes with apples and applesauce. He loves to chew or suck on an apple but he will only eat a tiny bit of applesauce if any. I should probably try again but he is real picky. Do you think it is because I fed him adult food to early? I really don't know.
The picture below is him gagging on the baby food just seconds after he was eating the pear.

I love animal crackers and snack on them often throughout the day. well whenever I am eating them he whines and wants some. So I have started chewing them up and putting them on my finger and he eats some off my finger, he loves it. He would eat the cracker on his own if I let him but way to much of a choking hazard. I gave him some of my string cheese the other day and he loved that. That was even more of a choking hazard then the animal crackers so I refuse to give him that anymore.
It seems that he likes lots of different foods but mashed up baby food. I think I will try again in a couple days. He has been eating his cereal AWESOME! He refused to eat that a couple of weeks ago when I tried to mix baby food with it. Who knows, he is a character. So we will see if his food snobiness continues through the years.  And then I took this picture the other day and loved it so I thought I would post it. Great picture of his rolls and beef boobies. So cute!

holy cow - that last picture of sam is like a mini-Emily (I'm not saying your boobs are saggy like that or anything, just the face), ha ha.. I don't blame him for not wanting mushy baby food if he could eat a piece of real pear... why not let him gnaw on a banana or just get a really soft pear and he'll be fine.. i used to do the same thing that you did with animal crackers but with fruit for brooke - she loved it!

That last picture is awesome! Will you be my photographer...wait not mine, but Josh's? I really need some cute pictures like that! And just be patient with cute little sam, hopefully he will eventually eat...but no worries it looks like he is getting enough somewhere! And I was ready to text all the girls today to say I NEED to get out really bad, so we all need to plan a lunch at the park real soon, as long as the weather cooperates!

Cute pictures! My son LOVES every kind of food, adult or baby. I mostly feed him what we are eating now except for dairy. My friend suggested buying a teething product that allows the baby to suck foods without choking (it is mesh, you can buy it at walmart or target)Ryker didn't care that much for it but it was great with bananas when he was just getting started and I didn't have to worry about him choking. Sorry this ended up being so long.

Do you know the baby heimlich maneuver? So, what's to worry about, ha, let the kid have it all!! How about mashed potatoes and oatmeal? Maddie LOVES to steal whatever we are eating....
