After a little play time at the park we were ready for lunch. I didn't have a huge appetite but I knew I needed to eat something. I chose Kneaders and it did not dissapoint. However, I got the Chicken Raspberry Nut salad which I love but my favorite part is the candied nuts. For some reason everybody had their food but me and they finally bring my salad and no candied nuts. What?!!? Um, no this is not happening. So I went back inside (gorgeous weather= eating on the patio) and asked them if they were all out of candied nuts. They replied "no, but they are out back so it will take a minute to go get them." Um, hello, I'll wait. It was worth the wait, I really do love candied nuts. After lunch we went to visit Uncle Dana and Aunt Sissy (Dan's aunt and uncle). Uncle Dana and his son Walker had both run the marathon and also qualified for Boston as well. I think they got 3:03 or something crazy like that. They are amazingly fast. Anyway, they had rented a house with a pool so we all brought our swim stuff but I really didn't feel like changing again so I yet again sat and watched. The house and yard that they had rented was amazing. The kids had a great time.
We did have Ellie in a swimsuit but she pooped and refused to go swimming so I changed her and then of course she decided she wanted to go swimming once she was all changed and dry again. It was fun to hang out with them for a while but that was short lived b/c we had to get changed and back up to the house we were staying at so that Dan could go to Priesthood with my Dad. We were way late getting back up there but they made it to part of Priesthood so that is good. We hung out with the horses and watched movies in their home theatre that is loaded with a popcorn maker, candy and soda. This house is so much fun.
I slept great that night. I love the night of sleep the day of the marathon. Your body feels sore and tired and you know you don't have to get up early in the morning to run 26.2 miles. It's over, it's finally over. Gosh, I love that feeling. We woke up and had breakfast and then headed home about 9:30. The ride home didn't seem as easy as the ride down but we survived.
It was a great weekend and I am glad the marathon is over but right after the marathon I did experience that kind of depressed feeling. I had nothing to train for. This huge race I had been training for for months was now over. I was so happy but sad at the same time. Hard to explain I guess. I definitely trained for this race the least and did the best. I attribute that to GPP. I did those workouts everyday and would run throughout the week but seriously this was the least that I ran when training for a marathon. It was nice. I love the gpp workouts. They are short and fast and very effective. I highly recommend them. Well, that's it. Hope you enjoyed the read.
