6 months old

I cannot believe that Sam is 6 months old already. Honestly, the last 6 months have flown by.This is going to be a long post but it is mostly for me to remember things that Sam is doing right now b/c I know I will forget in like a month. So, read at your own risk. He continues to grow like a weed. His 6 months stats are as follows:

Height: 26 inches  35%- shorty
Weight: 16 lbs. 12 oz. 50%- average
Head Circumference: 42 1/2 cm 25%- still small

So, he isn't as huge as most people think he is. Yes, he is a chubby little guy and I don't mind people saying that he is huge if they follow it with "he is so cute." But when they just say he is huge I think it's pretty rude. Example: I was at Costco the other day and the lady that was putting stuff in my cart simply said "That's a huge kid." Not, he is so cute, huge but adorable. Nope, just that is a huge kid. I got a little defensive and wanted to say "Yeah, well so are you." But I thought better of it. :-) I'm sure she didn't mean anything mean by it but the way she said it just came off rude, whatev. Just something fresh on my mind. I guess the moral of the story is: if you tell me how huge my baby is you better follow it with how cute he is. :-)
He was pretty cranky after his shots this time and now I think he is getting sick b/c he has been a little ornery and he is pretty congested. He has been super healthy so I'm hoping this is a small cold that comes and goes.
Okay so here is a list of things he is doing at 6 months:
- He currently likes to play/grab/squeeze my face with nursing. Sometimes it makes me laugh but mostly it is pretty annoying.
- He is soooo ticklish. I love it! He laughs hysterically every time I take a onsie off of him b/c it tickles so bad. It is hilarious. I'm not trying to tickle him but just change him and he is just laying there laughing. I have to get it on camera soon.
-He is doing raspberries all the time now. I usually change to work out before I lay him down for his nap in the morning so I have a tank top on and while I am singing to him before I lay him down he loves to do raspberries on my shoulder. He does them on my chin, into the air, with his food and yes, when he is done nursing he starts to do them "there" too. Very funny!
-Sitting up wonderfully. Doesn't fall over too much anymore. I love that he can sit up now!
- Hates baby food so far. Well, I have only tried peas and squash so far. He has gaged every time I have given it to him. I have started mixing the squash with his oatmeal and he has done better with that but He really doesn't like the baby food so far. I'm pretty sure he will love the fruit but I haven't tried that yet. Okay, I have now tried pears, squash, peas, bananas (canned and mashing them myself.) He continues to gag every time he eats it. In fact, he gagged so hard today that he threw up. Not loving the baby food. And now, he refuses to eat the oatmeal b/c he thinks it tastes bad like the baby food. I'm going to keep trying and hope he gets use to the textures.
-He is a terrible sleeper. He does good some weeks and bad others. I always tell Dan I am going to let him cry it out when he wakes up at night and then he will sleep great for a couple days and I don't have to. I'm sure I'm going to have to have him cry it out soon though. He has yet to sleep through the night. So to those of you whose babies are sleeping 9-11 hours a night, count your blessings. He was a pretty good sleeper up until about 4 months and then I don't know what happened. I have felt more sleep deprived the last month then I ever have since having him. I'm hoping it turns around soon.
-Almost EVERYBODY who sees him comments on what a happy, cute baby he is and of course his awesome chubby cheeks.
- Loves to suck on apples and pears while I am eating them.
- Loves his Daddy. Poor little guy only gets to see Dan about 10-15 minutes a day b/c he is in bed by the time Dan gets home at night but he just laughs and smiles at Dan when he is around. We just sit in the bathroom and watch Dan get ready for the day since it is the only time Dan and Sam get to see each other. It's sad, I can't wait for busy season to be over. Dan can't wait either by the way.
- He is not a snuggler when he is tired. When I am singing to him before a nap or before bed sometimes he will rest his head on my shoulder or chest and I LOVE it but most of the time he is just pushing off of me and shaking his head back and forth. I just have to lay him down and let him go to sleep.
- He loves it when I sing to him. He knows the songs I sing before a nap (calmer songs) so he knows what is coming but when I sing energetic songs he just laughs and smiles. He gets a lot of singing right now in the car considering I have no radio. I hate the silence so I just sing his favorite songs.
- He loves this little yellow ducky he has. I think it is because it is rubbery and feels good on his gums. Oh and it squeaks but he LOVES it. I kind of feel like it is a dog toy b/c it squeaks but he loves it so no big deal.

- Lately he has been pulling his blanket over his
face while falling asleep. It is a very thick blanket
and it is really dangerous so I have to go in and move it off of his face when he falls asleep. I don't know if he likes the soft part of the blanket or just the warmth on his face. Who knows but it freaks me out so I tuck it in really tight once he is asleep.
-He laughs sooooo easily. I'm pretty sure he thinks I am hilarious. I can hardly blame him I am pretty funny. :-)
-He goes to bed super early. He is usually ready for bed around 6 or 6:30. I have tried giving him a nap later in the afternoon so he will go to bed later but that didn't work. He slept from 3:30-5. Woke up, ate, took a bath and then was acting tired so I layed him down around 6:30 and he was out in a couple minutes. It is really hard if I have to go somewhere b/c I have to keep him up and he gets super ornery and when he goes to bed later then usual he doesn't sleep well that night. Oh and if he does go to sleep around 8 or 9 he still wakes up at 6 or 6:30. He is just an early riser.
- I will probably add some more things if I think of them but this is plenty for now. I really have a terrible memory so I just wanted to get it all down before he has changed and I forgot. Sorry for the long post.
I took some cute pictures of him and then my cameras memory card deleted them all. Stupid CF card. New one coming in the mail soon. I took some with his baby legs on. He's legs are too chubby for these so I wanted to get a picture before I put them away.

Sam is so HUGE...but so CUTE! Gosh I think chubby is cute and if it makes you feel better Josh weighed a little more than him at his 6 month visit, so there. I loved reading all about Sam, he is growing up fast. And Josh does the exact same thing with his rubber tucky, it is by far his favorite bath toy. We need to get together again soon!

I think huge is adoreable, who wants a skinny alien baby? Also, I would love for you to sing to me sometime, I think that last time was when we were forced to sing solos in the car to "sisters in zion." Good times!

I think what they are trying to say when they say he is "huge" is actually, "wow, I would expect that darling baby to be huge based on how awesomely hot his mom looks already he must be really old".. just a guess since you haven't actually posted pictures of yourself, but I know you! he is totally cute - I love the pic of him gnawing on his rubber ducky!
